Hello, I’m Kara!

Hi! This is Kara, I just turned 20 and am in my second year here at Cortland as an Inclusive Childhood Education Major with my concentration as English. I am on the Cortland soccer team and in Education Club. I grew up in Geneseo, NY and have a dog named Pepsi and a cat named Cola. Fun fact: I don’t even like soda, but the names fit them perfectly I swear. I am an only child, so I consider my animals my siblings. I am one who loves all type of music and can never pick my one favorite movie or TV show. But, my all time favorite book is “Message in a Bottle,” by Nicholas Sparks. I am such a romantic and will cry every time I read it. Can’t wait for this class and super excited for this semester with you all!

Hola me llamo Claudia Benito

Hola todos, my name is Claudia Benito and I’m a senior. I’m an English major with a Spanish minor. Born and raised in Queens (NYC is the best and there’s no argument). I’m always freezing and the Upstate weather doesn’t help my cold hands. Fun fact: my first language is Spanish and I learned English in pre-school. I am part of the Cortland Women’s Rugby team. I strongly support and advocate for intersectional feminism, people of color, and the LGBTQIA+ community. I’m excited to meet and work with everyone this semester!

Hello, I’m Cody

My name is Cody and I am a senior here at SUNY Cortland. I am an english major and I hope to someday become an english professor. I am currently in the process of applying to graduate programs seeing that this is my last semester here. I am from Watertown, NY and I live on lake Ontario. I am also the proud owner of a one year old Bernese Mountain Dog named Gaia.

Hi, I’m Savannah!

Hey everyone, my name is Savannah and I can’t wait to meet everyone next week. I unfortunately won’t be able to come into class until next monday so I will have to get to know you guys solely off of your blog for right now. I am a junior, majoring in English with a minor in professional writing and Professor Savonick was one of my first professors when I switched into this major from Psychology (she’s pretty awesome btw). I am from Staten Island, New York and thus, am a complete city girl. Can’t wait to meet all of you and put faces to the names!

Keira Sullivan

Hi guys! My name is Keira, I’m an English major and I’m a Senior. I plan to acquire my English degree here at Cortland but pursue a career in Human Resources. I’ve had several internships over the past few Summers in HR and I’m looking forward to hopefully getting a great job and begin working! I’m from Queens, New York, specifically Rockaway Beach. It’s my favorite place in the world. However, I’m open to moving after college and seeing where I best fit. Cortland has been the school I wanted to go too since my early high school days and I’m very sad to be leaving here in May. Although I don’t want to leave, I’m very excited for this semester and to graduate on a good note!

Hello, I’m Marian!

Hello! My name is Marian, but I also go by Mar. I’m 19 and a senior in the Inclusive Childhood Education major, I’m specifically concentrating on english. A little bit about me outside of academia, I’m on the EMS squad here on campus, as well as rock climbing club, habitat for humanity and ASL club. Presently I work over at the Student Life center as a building supervisor, but during the summer I go back to Spencer to work at Lions Camp Badger – a camp for the dis/abled populace that runs through July. I love working at both places and they’re helping pay for the apartment I moved into over the summer here in Cortland, as well as save for a car and other general boring things, the exciting thing it’s paying for is me to get a cat from the shelter, I think I’ll name him Pudge but I’m open to other suggestions. A bit about me otherwise in general is that I’m the youngest of 7, even my twin brother is older than me. My family runs a blacksmith shop and is quite unique. If anyone is curious about it look up Starfire swords since I know it’s a unique family business to have. If you’d like to know anything else about me feel free to ask!

Hi, I’m Emily!

Hey everyone! My name is Emily Sietsma and I am a transfer student here at SUNY Cortland. I transferred from Castleton University, a very small Vermont college, about two years ago. The main reason I decided to make the move was because of the education program here, as well as the incredible reputation that SUNY schools have. A little added bonus was that my identical twin sister also attends school here! So please do not be offended if I don’t wave back to you or don’t recognize you— because it’s probably not me! I have a wonderful family back home in New Jersey, which consists of my mom, dad, sister, and my pets. I have a dog and three cats, one of which is a newly adopted kitten named Thomas. He’s seven months old and briefly lived with me in Cortland for a while. My three greatest loves are probably animals, books, and music, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are my favorite band to ever exist. I hope to have a great semester with all of you, and I’m looking forward to what is to come.

Hi, I’m Noel Loguidice!

My name’s Noel. I’m an English major and this is my final semester before graduating. I’m from Ocean City, New Jersey. When I’m home, I’m on the beach as much as possible (watching the sunrise and surfing until the sun sets). And when I’m not in the water, I’m at work making acai bowls on the boardwalk or working at a juice bar off the island. My plan is to move back to Jersey after this semester, start freelance writing while working on a comic book, and save up to open up a vegan bakery. I’ve been vegan for three years, and being a voice for the animals is my passion and purpose. My best friend is a bunny named Ang. I’m excited to finish college with this class and I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you. Sending you all good vibrations this semester!

Hi, I’m Samantha Brigandi

Hey guys I’m Sam, and I’m a junior here at Cortland doing a double major in English and Cinema Studies. Much like half of SUNY Cortland’s population, I am from Long Island – the land of better pizza. I’m really excited to be in this class and learning about Audre Lorde for the next semester. It looks like we’re going to have a really great class and from the blogs so far, I can see that everyone is also very pet-friendly. If there is anything I’m more passionate about than feminist prose – it is cute pets. I myself am mother to a 100 lbs chocolate lab, who some of you have met before and will most likely see again. Really looking forward to a great semester with you all and Prof. Savonick. Naturally, I could end this blog post no other way than with a picture (my personal favorite) of Heath.

Hi my name is Gabriele!

Obviously, my name is Gabriele. I am what some would call a townie. I was born and raised in the Cortland/Homer area all my life. I am in my last semester here at Cortland and I have just had positive experiences in my time here. I used to work at Neubig before I decided that I wanted to continue my education after taking some time to really experience the work force and consider my goals and wants in life. I hope to take a year or a semester off to really decided my master’s plan. I have a small pooch named Trueman that sometimes will come to class with me due to a professor asking for him to visit or because he had an appointment that left no time for a stop home. He is an older white Bischon (french toy dog) that just naps all class, but he loves to give kisses.

I hope to get to know all of you well and enjoy the semester!
